Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) is a calcium carbonate powder material prepared by chemical synthesis. Different from naturally ground Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC), it is produced with limestone as the main raw material through processes such as calcination, slaking and carbonation.
First, limestone (mainly composed of CaCO₃) is calcined in a high-temperature kiln to decompose into calcium oxide (CaO) and carbon dioxide (CO₂), that is, CaCO₃ decomposes into CaO + CO₂↑ at high temperature. Then, calcium oxide reacts with water (slaking process) to form calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) emulsion. Next, carbon dioxide gas is introduced into the emulsion (or the CO₂ generated during the calcination stage is recycled) to undergo a carbonation reaction, generating calcium carbonate precipitate. Finally, through dehydration, drying, crushing, classification and other links, precipitated calcium carbonate products of different specifications are obtained.
