Calcium hydroxide (Ca (OH)₂) is widely used in the treatment of desulfurization wastewater. It is a commonly used alkaline agent, mainly used to adjust the pH value of wastewater, remove heavy metal ions and soften water quality.
Desulfurization wastewater is usually acidic and needs to be neutralized by alkaline agents to a neutral or weakly alkaline state (pH≈7 to 9) for subsequent treatment.
Calcium hydroxide is strong in alkalinity and low in cost. When it reacts with strong acids, it releases a small amount of heat and has a relatively low corrosiveness to equipment.
Calcium and magnesium ions in wastewater can lead to high water hardness. Calcium hydroxide reacts with magnesium ions to form magnesium hydroxide precipitate (Mg (OH)₂), and at the same time, the concentration of calcium and magnesium ions is reduced through the lime-soda softening method to prevent scaling in subsequent equipment.
