Slaked lime (calcium hydroxide) is widely used in construction as a basic material with both cementitious and functional properties. It can be mixed to prepare lime mortar and composite mortar for masonry and plastering of walls. After hardening, it features fine texture and strong adhesion, effectively improving the smoothness and strength of wall surfaces.
Meanwhile, slaked lime is often used as an important additive in interior and exterior wall coatings. It can enhance the consistency and workability of coatings, boost their hiding power and alkali resistance, reduce efflorescence and moisture regain on walls, and make the coating layer more uniform and firm.
In addition, slaked lime is applied in the preparation of lime-soil mixtures and tri-component mixtures, serving as cushion materials for building foundations and road bases to enhance the compactness and stability of the base. Its alkaline nature also inhibits bacteria and mold, neutralizes acidic substrates, and effectively improves the durability of building finishes and structures. It is extensively used in interior and exterior wall decoration and foundation engineering of civil buildings and industrial workshops.
As an activator of active admixtures, Slaked Lime's strong alkalinity can stimulate the active components in industrial waste such as slag, fly ash, and silica fume, thereby improving the strength and durability of concrete. The fine particles of Slaked Lime can fill the gaps between concrete aggregates, increase the viscosity of the slurry, reduce segregation and bleeding, especially suitable for pumping concrete or self compacting concrete.
