With a density of 22.4g/cm3, its clarified aqueous solution is a colorless odorless alkaline transparent liquid with a PH value of 12.4.

Calcium hydroxide reacts with sulfur dioxide to form calcium sulfate, thus achieving flue gas desulfurization . Calcium hydroxide and sulfur dioxide neutralization reaction, calcium sulfate and water, in addition, calcium hydroxide also has the ability to absorb sulfur dioxide, can directly adsorb sulfur dioxide molecules to form calcium sulfate, further improve the desulfurization efficiency . Calcium hydroxide has many applications in flue gas desulphurization including wet desulphurization, dry desulphurization and semi-dry desulphurization.
