Product Description
Quicklime, chemically known as calcium oxide (CaO), is an inorganic compound composed of calcium and oxygen. It usually appears as a white or grayish-white lump, granular or powdered solid. It has strong alkalinity and high chemical reactivity. When it comes into contact with water, it undergoes a vigorous exothermic reaction, generating calcium hydroxide (slaked lime) and releasing a large amount of heat at the same time. This characteristic makes it widely used in many industrial and civilian fields.
From a chemical perspective, quicklime is an alkaline oxide with strong water absorption and reactivity. When exposed to air, quicklime quickly absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide, gradually transforming into calcium hydroxide and calcium carbonate, resulting in a decrease in its active ingredients. Therefore, it needs to be sealed and stored. Its chemical stability is poor, and it can undergo chemical reactions with acids, acidic oxides, etc. to generate corresponding calcium salts. Its applications in wastewater treatment, chemical synthesis, and other fields are based on these chemical reactions.
